French Polynesia is a place of astounding beauty.  We were first struck by the incomparable colors of the lagoons, colors that can’t really be captured in a photograph.  Across the lagoons, ocean waves constantly crash against the distant coral reefs, and a white line of surf extends across the horizon. Spectacular green peaks seem to rise suddenly from the sea.   Every morning and evening there are sunrises and sunsets more spectacular than any we have seen anywhere else.

And French Polynesia is largely unspoiled.  The island of Tahiti and its neighbors welcome an average of fewer than 5,000 tourists per week.  And that means development is limited.  In these islands, tranquility is supreme.

Each part of the Polynesian Suite is accompanied by choral and orchestral music inspired by the uncommon allure of the islands. The Suite was filmed on Bora Bora, Huahine, Moorea, and the island of Tahiti.

The Suite is scored for alto chorus, strings (24 violins, 8 violas, 6 double basses), brass (4 trumpets, 4 French Horns, 2 tenor trombones, bass trombone, tuba), and woodwinds (3 flutes, 3 clarinets, 3 bassoons, oboe, English horn).
