23rd Movement: In Paradisum
The twenty-third movement of the Requiem, In Paradisum, is accompanied by a video tour of Sainte-Chapelle in Paris.
In Paradisum, like each of the composition's movements, was inspired by the beauty and grandeur of some of the world's great cathedrals and churches.
The Text In Paradisum (In Paradise) By tradition, In Paradisum is said after the final blessing of the Requiem, as the coffin is carried from the church.
The Composition In Paradisum is seldom included in Requiem Masses composed for concert performance. Gabriel Fauré, Maurice Duruflé, and Benjamin Britten are among the very few who do include it.
In Paradisum is scored here for tenors and basses; strings (18 violins, 10 violas, 10 cellos, 9 double basses); brass (6 French horns, 4 trumpets); the woodwinds are represented by a single English horn.

In Paradisum deducant Angeli
in tuo adventu suscipiant te Martyres
et perducant te in civitatem sanctam Jerusalem.
Chorus Angelorum te suscipit
et cum Lazaro quondam paupere,
aeternam habeas requiem.
English Translation
May the angels lead thee to Paradise,
at thy coming may the martyrs receive thee
and bring thee into the holy city Jerusalem.
There may the chorus of angels receive thee,
and with Lazarus, once a beggar,
may thou have eternal rest.
